Why France is The Best Place to Ski This Winter
France is just a short ferry ride away; our vast neighbour that has a plentiful supply of mountains with unlimited potential for skiing for all abilities. In fact, it has never been easier to get to France with anywhere on the continent being just a train ride or two away. So what better reason could there be to choose France for ski holidays than the fact it is right next door?
Well, there are plenty. Obvious, the relative lack of distance will mean shorter journey times and a cheaper trip all around, whilst that stockpile of school-taught French that still lingers in the back of most of our minds will also be a great help should a language barrier ever become a problem.
But simplicity alone doesn't account for why France is such a great destination for tourists searching for the perfect chalets to call home for a week or two. French resorts offer a great range of variety that means skiers of all ages and abilities are sure to be satisfied. The après-ski on offer is also some of the best in the world meaning that a ski-holiday in France offers a great all round vacation.
Then there is the fact that many of the resorts such as Les Gets look like something out of a fairytale or a fantasy postcard. The surroundings are some of the most beautiful in the world with chalets set amongst some of the most breathtaking and charming backdrops as you are likely to find.
So for those who think skiing in France is simply a lazy approach taken by those who can't be bothered to stray too far from home, it is wise to remember that the most perfect locations on Earth have to be somewhere. And we just happen to be lucky enough, that the perfect places for skiing just so happen to be on our own doorstep.
